Rain Off the Eaves
In Korea, the summer monsoon called jangma settles in for weeks around late June. A hanok — a traditional timber-framed house — meets it with eaves that project far past the walls, their curved clay tiles arranged in alternating ridges and valleys so the water has somewhere to go. Here it drips in slow threads from the decorated end-tiles into a shallow pool on the packed earth of the courtyard. The exposed rafters have darkened with damp, and the whole scene sits under the flat grey light of a rain-heavy sky.
Why this subject
On the style
