Hahoe Village sits inside a loop of the Nakdong River in Andong, in Korea's southeastern interior, and has been lived in by the same clan for some six hundred years. Its lanes are lined with walls of rammed earth mixed with straw, capped by a thin row of roof tiles to shed the rain. The path never runs straight — it bends around whichever house was built first, then disappears into shadow. Painted empty, so the walls tell you how narrow the passage really is.

Why this subject

On the style
